Your main priority is preventing you and your puppy from having to traverse across dirt or mud for them to go potty. It is likely that mistakes will happen in the beginning, but you can eventually train your puppy to stay on the pathway. This setup will drastically reduce the chance of your dog's paws getting dirty.

Whether you are not having luck with these solutions or you just want to have an alternative option, you can buy shoes for your puppy. This method works by getting the shoes dirty rather than your puppy's paws. The only thing you have to worry about is cleaning their shoes after they use them.
