After Terminating An Employee, Hire A Janitorial Service To Clean The Person's Cubicle In These Ways

When you're a business manager, having to terminate an employee is one of the more challenging elements of your job. After the process has been completed, though, it's important to look to the future. Soon you'll be hiring a new employee to fill the recently departed one's role, and it's nice if the new member of your team can settle into a clean work environment on his or her first day. No one likes taking over a cubicle that is dirty, but if you or your fellow managers aren't up for thoroughly cleaning the area, it's a good idea to hire a commercial cleaning service for the job. Here are some specific things to request of the cleaner.

Clean The Phone And Computer

It's a bit of an unsavory feeling using a phone and computer that aren't clean. It's one thing for your own grime to dirty your computer keyboard over the years, for example, but another thing altogether when you're routinely touching someone else's mess. Have the janitorial service take special care to thoroughly clean the phone and computer of the recently terminated employee so that they are in like-new condition for your new employee. The phone receiver, for example, can be carefully scrubbed to remove grease, while the computer keyboard can be vacuumed and scrubbed to remove dirt and food stains.

Wipe Out The Desk

Over time, an employee's desk can get dirty inside. This is especially true if he or she has kept food in the desk. While the employee will have likely taken any personal items out of the desk, other things may remain, including garbage. Ask the cleaner to completely empty out the desk. This means not only wiping down all of the surfaces so that they're clean, but also dealing with any paperclips, staples, and other small items that may be left behind.

Remove Any Personal Items

While many terminated employees pack up each of their personal items before leaving the building, this isn't always the case. It's ideal to have your cleaner remove any traces of the previous employee so that your new hire feels as though the cubicle is his or hers, rather than someone else's. Items pinned to the bulletin board or stuck on the walls, magnets on a metal filing cabinet, and other similar items should all be collected and discarded so that the cubicle feels new and fresh on your new employee's first day.
