If children currently eat meals and snacks in separate classrooms, consider adding a dining area inside of the daycare that everyone can utilize. The dining area should be placed inside of a room that does not contain carpeting. If the dining area is not large enough for all of the children to use at the same time, create an eating schedule so that classes can rotate.

If children often create art or science projects that are messy and this is contributing to the carpets become soiled or stained, ask your staff members to save projects for days that are warm and sunny. Place a few picnic tables outdoors for children to sit around while working on projects.
